This open entry course provides entry-level training in Web page and graphic design. The skills learned in this course will enhance existing jobs skills for photographers, computer programmers, and content developers for the expanding market on the World Wide Web. Self-employment opportunities also exist in the areas of video production, animation, and multimedia creation. This course covers the following areas of instruction: computer graphics, desktop publishing, Web page design, and multimedia authoring and presentation. The equipment the students will use includes digital cameras, computers, scanners, and printers, as well as the most current software used in web page design including Abode PhotoShop, Abode PageMaker, Sound Edit Pro, Visual Page, PhotoVista (creates 360 degree panoramas), StrataStudio, and DreamWeaver. Approximately 380 hours are needed to complete this course.

Description:
This course provides entry-level training in automotive service/maintenance. Employment possibilities include service station operator, quick lube service and tire and parts worker. Instruction covers the following areas: engine systems, electrical systems, tires and brakes, lubrication service, cooling systems, ignition and emission device service. Students use equipment which includes tire machines, lube equipment, diagnostic equipment and tools common to all automotive work. Approximately 360 hours are needed to complete the course. Completion depends upon previous background, entry-level skills and rate of progress.
Counseling Info:
Student should have an interest in auto service trades, mechanical aptitude, desire to enter work force immediately after graduation or wish to work part-time and continue school. Students may participate in on-the-job training as a part of this course. Students must meet required course standards and obtain permission of the instructor prior to an on-the-job training assignment. Students must conform to dress codes and other standards required by the training site management.

Description:
This course provides entry-level and preparation for advanced training in biotechnology services. Employment possibilities include research laboratory assistant/aide, media/glassware technician, chemical technician/aide, chem. technician, biomanufacturing assistant, bioreactor technician/aide, and clinical manufacturing technician. Instruction covers the following areas: biological analysis, biotechnical specimen collection, biotechnical materials processing, and biotechnical product manufacture. Lab practice includes: measurement, micropipetting, aseptic techniques, electrophoretic separation, western blot, etc. Students use equipment which includes: microcentrifuge, heating blocks, water baths, electrophoresis gel boxes, microwave ovens, spectrophotometer, and incubators. Approximately 180 hours are needed to complete the course. Completion depends upon student's entry-level skills and rate of progress in the class.
Prerequisites:
Students must have completed biology and chemistry or have teacher approval. Excellent computational skills and computer literacy are necessary.
Counseling Info:
Introduction to Biotechnology incorporates the health careers core competencies with job specific didactic, laboratory and clinical competencies for the various occupations in the biotechnology professions. Students completing course work are prepared to assist with various biotechnology research and development procedures performed by laboratory professionals.

Description:
This course provides entry-and intermediate-level training in computer graphics and design. Some modules can include advance training and/or specialized curriculums in such areas as animation. Students learn basic computer operation, terminology, peripheral use, and file management/integration. The creative and technical process of project management is taught with an emphasis placed on concept to completion planning. Instruction covers in typography, design elements and color management. Students learn software packages covering page layout, illustration, and photo manipulation and scanning with some modules offering instruction in specialized software for Web design and animation. Instruction covers hand-drawing techniques. A range of 60-180 hours is needed to complete this course.
Counseling Info:
